I take it that D of W means died of wounds but I dont understand the part on what medals were awarded and the MM medal award is not on the card is that normal. Stebie9173 Posted 27 April , 2005 Share Posted 27 April , 2005 MMs are on a different card. They are in series WO372/23. You often have to search by initials or numbers to find them. The Medals gained were the Victory & British War Medals (both with the same Medal Rolls references - Medal rolls are in book form at Kew) He was also entitled to the 1914 Star for being in active service in France & Flanders before 22-11-14 (just). He would have transferred from the 6th Battalion Cheshire Regiment to the 10th Battalion Lincolnshire Regiment, at some point. I hope this helps, Steve.
