KizmeRD Posted 10 September Share Posted 10 September Sadly it was only a matter of time before something like this happened - it’s no longer a particularly nice area of London. M.

FionaBam Posted 28 September Share Posted 28 September I wonder why it was left unprotected and vulnerable as we moved into the late 20 th century. Am probably speaking for lots of people . I would have erected 10 ft railings all around it with a secure gated entrance. But how do you fund that ? Public donations being the only chance I suppose. KizmeRD Posted 28 September Share Posted 28 September It survived the 20th Century, but was stolen recently (in the 21st Century) - sadly, a sign of the times. M.
FionaBam Posted 28 September Share Posted 28 September The signs were there though in the late 20th century- I meant that action should have been taken then . Miss Hindsight speaks - always so easy to see isnt it Fiona
crystalpalacefoundation Posted 28 September Share Posted 28 September (edited) I have photographs showing that there were indeed 10ft railings around the trophy from ay least 1 December 1936 to at least 1952. They had been taken down by 1973 and shortly after the trophy structure was moved to its present location.
