We have a number of old threads about Walter Tull and, IIRC, at least a couple of these examine the claim that he was the first officer of colour in the British Army. The blurb notes that "he went on to achieve yet another historic breakthrough as the first man of his heritage to be commissioned as an Officer in the British Army".

The musical is touring the country, so may be at a venue near to some of us.
