tankengine888 Posted Thursday at 04:47 Share Posted Thursday at 04:47 Hello! I found an interesting fellow.. Arthur William (Victor) Cane was born March 1885 in Chiswick, Middlesex. He served in the 1/AIF in 'C' Company, 15th Battalion on Gallipoli and in France. It appears this fellow was the same Arthur 'Kane' of 'J' Company who was mortally wounded in the Coolavohig Ambush on Feb 25 1921 where his commander, Major Seaford-Grant M.C. was also killed. If that is the case, he has the (unfortunate) honour to be one of few (if any) ex-AIF killed in Ireland with the Black and Tans. I am curious as to further information on this fellow- his First World War record is already known, however pre-war and post-war and circumstances of wounding, etc are unknown to me, and I would be grateful to any information relating to this.
