thetrenchrat22 Posted 7 July Posted 7 July I think that it was on the 7th July 2014, the CWGC released an update to the their website. So we were able to see, Grave Registration Report Forms, Concernation of Burial Reports, Burial Returns, Headstone Schedules, pages from cemetery / Memorial Registers etc for the first time. in that period, I wonder many of the missing from the Great War have been given their names back. for me, James McLean at Fosse 7, William Kington at Tyne Cot, Thomas Parry at Perth (China Wall), Gilbert Wilcocks at Ypres Reservoir, Albert Sleet at Dud Corner, George Price at Chester Farm, Arthur Dowding at Bellicourt British, Charles Lane at Auberchicourt British, George Galloway at Achiet-Le-Grand Communal, Thomas Gustafson at York Cemetery, Alick Aylmore at Assevillers New. during that time, I’ve submitted another 24 cases of which I’m still waiting to hear back and I’ve had 4 which were rejected by the CWGC later on 2014, I think the CWGC also updated the details for the Second World War and from that Douglas Dickson at London Cemetery and Extension received his name back and I have 1 further case from WW2 still outstanding. the journey continues,
thetrenchrat22 Posted 9 July Author Posted 9 July This the man, who started the journey I’m on today and it was on the 9th July 2014.
MelPack Posted 9 July Posted 9 July TR Just as a point of interest, the first grave for rededication pre-dated the publication of the GRRFs and COG-BRs on the CWGC by a year. The grave of CSM Andrew Gale of the Royal West Surrey Regiment was identified in 2013 and rededicated in 2016: https://www.greatwarforum.org/topic/196525-family-sought-for-newly-identified-war-grave/#comment-2441703 Keep up the good work !
