Private John George Blake

I would be most grateful for any information anybody could give me on:

Private John George Blake

Royal Sussex Regiment Service Number SD/1657

Date of Death 22/06/1919

Aged 41

He is buried in Broadwater Cemetery (Worthing, Sussex).

I have not been able to find a local link between Worthing and Blake and wonder if anyone knows anything about this soldier?.

Many thanks,

Janet

The men that are buried in Worthing may have died of wounds at a military hospital in the town; saying that though, there was a John Blake aged 23 , Railway porter in Worthing at time of 1901 census.

Thank you Myrtle. There were several hospitals in the Worthing area, which does not help.

But I think you have found him. I have been trawling through the local Rolls of Service and have just found his name. Therefore, combined with your information, I think I can confirm him as a Worthing man.

Very many thanks,

Janet
