Geoff S Posted 22 June , 2003 Share Posted 22 June , 2003 I believe only seven Australians who fought in World War I now remain alive. Last Australian Gallipoli veteran (Alec Campbell) died on the 17th of May 2002 Last Australian Light Horse veteran (Bert Whitmore) died on the 26th of July 2002. Bob Coulson Posted 22 June , 2003 Share Posted 22 June , 2003 We had this discussion a while back and at the time the "official" figure was put at 30 plus. I seem to remember however that someone suggested that there could be still 100 plus, people who are not known about and keep themselves to themselves. Bob. Guest Ian Bowbrick Posted 22 June , 2003 Share Posted 22 June , 2003 As the ONS puts the number of male centurians in this country at between 150 and 200 men, if you say 60% were over 103, say 120 men and then 75% served 1914-1918, this leaves 90. Interesting....... Ian
