Remembered Today:

Anzora Bottles from Practice Trenches

Hi all,

I am currently investigating some Anzac practice trenches on Salisbury Plain. Badger activity in part of the site has thrown up a series of glass bottles. In addition to several Camp Coffee and Bovril jars, a bottle marked "ANZORA" has been found. I was wondering whether the first three letters of this word were significant (for its presence on an Anzac training site) or whether this is purely coincidental. A cursory google search has indicated that it might be a hair tonic (!) but I would be greatful for any knowledge posessed by members of the forum - especially those in Australia if it relates to an indigenous product!

all things good

Richard
