Durham LI / 5th Entrenching Battalion

Soldier first enlisted in 1/6th (TF) Bn. then 'Attd 5th Ent. Btn.' then 2nd Bn then 'Attd 12 Co R.E.' then 'Attd 18 I.B.' then back to 2nd Bn.

There does not appear to be a War Diary for the 5th Entrenching Battalion.

Can anyone tell me which Division this battalion was in, please. 12 Coy RE and 18 Infantry Brigade were part of 6th Division.

I have looked at the medal roll either side of Hubbard. From 42504 to 42575 there are 38 soldiers from 1/6th Bn DLI attached to 5 Entrenching Battalion. Most were later transferred to the 2nd Bn.

One soldiers service papers includes a letter written by him asking for two sheets of writing paper and envelopes to be sent to him at '6th Battalion Durham Light Infantry 5th Entrenching Battalion'. Does this indicate that 5th Ent. Btn. was part of the 50th Division. I have found no mention of it in any Order of Battle.

BTW my grandfather served in 1/6th (TF) Bn DLI as did two of his sons (my uncles!)
