Does anyone recognise the cap badge in this photo?

The forage cap front and centre bears an indistinct (blurred) badge, but the men’s overall appearance implies infantry, as does what seems to possibly be a single colour pagri flash.  I think that the badge’s outline shape suggests the Duke of Cornwall’s Light Infantry.

Absolutely Michelle, it’s such a blurred image that it’s difficult to narrow things down a great deal.  There seems to be a curved bottom, which could be the Sussex title scroll.  It’s a smaller badge though and the one in the photo looks larger, relative to the size of a forage cap.

The one in the OP does look as though it has a plume at the top, unlike the DCLI, which is quite "flat" at the top

Yes, I can see the protrusion at the top now that you point it out.  It’s just the proportionate dimensions that don’t look right.

Oddly enough the other two cap badges immediately visible [over the central figure's left shoulder and the officer at the left look as if their cap badges are smaller

Yes I’m far from confident overall.  If the original copy of the photo could be examined through a magnifier it might make a big difference.

Part of my rationale was the helmet flash.  The Royal Sussex usually favoured a two colour type flash, Blue and Tangerine.

The back is annotated 'somewhere in Egypt 1915'.

Can’t be DCLI then, no battalions in Egypt until 1917.  For Royal Sussex units, 1/4th arrived at Egypt in December 1915, but the badge and other features still doesn’t seem right to me.  Squinting at the cloth pagri flash it might not be a single colour after all, it’s difficult to tell at this distance and when orthochromatic film isn’t rendering true colour.  Perhaps @CorporalPunishmentmight have a view.
