Guest Indy Posted 2 April , 2005 Share Posted 2 April , 2005 I am looking forward to read one of her books. I am interested particulrarly in her WW1 exprience so which one would be best,Chronicle of youth or Testament of youth?(I would love to have both, but as I have to order by the net and from abroad,it would be quite too expensive for me!)And by the way,are there other books about VADs?(I already have read Roses of no man's land, which I found fantastic). Thanks a lot!

marc leroux Posted 2 April , 2005 Share Posted 2 April , 2005 I just finished "Testament of Youth". In parts, I found it hard going, but overall it was well worth the read. She captures the difference in attitudes between the front lines and the home front quite well, as well as the feelings that the lost generation imparted on the survivors. Highly recommended marc
Admin Michelle Young Posted 2 April , 2005 Admin Share Posted 2 April , 2005 I would recommend We That Were Young by Irene Rathbone. I haven't read the following, but it is supposed to be good. It is called Diary Without Dates by Enid Bagnold. I prefer Chronicle of Youth Regards, Michelle
