Transport to the Front Lines

Hi myself and my two sons wish to walk the British Front lines , we have three whole days.
My question is what’s the best way to get there from London ?

We don’t wish to take the car , so train / coach ? So basically the easiest Town to get to by French transport. Look forward to your kind replies

I think we need a bit more detail, start point, end point, what battlefields you want to walk? There’s precious little public transport in some of the battlefield areas. Where are you hoping to base yourself?

As Michelle said, more detail is needed, the front lines extend to several hundred miles so a general location would help. Does the three days include or exclude travel to and from France, if it includes travel then you need to take the car. Even if it excludes the travel you will be pushed for time. I drove to the Somme area and walked the Somme lines of 1916 and that took a long weekend (four days), and I only scratched the surface so to speak. Much of the old front line is very rural so transport is hit and miss and sometimes impossible.

My advice would be to take the car, pick one of Paul Reeds walking books (links below) for a specific area and plan from there....
