stephen p nunn Posted 17 October , 2022 Share Posted 17 October , 2022 The last time we were in Ypres was on the 15/3/2020 - in fact we were the last British people to leave the Ariane Hotel before lockdown. It was time to return and so we did. This is how the visit went: Friday 14th October 2022 Got the 7.50 channel tunnel crossing and arrived in France at 9.15 (local time). Drove to Coxyde to pay our respects to Edward Tindale (we have his trio and plaque) and Joseph Beers (we have his VM). On to the Ariane for lunch. Explored Ypres. Attended the Last Post. Had a meal at In 't Klein Stadhuis. Saturday 15th October 2022 Walked to Ypres Town Cemetery to pay our respects to James Wood (we have his BWM and VM). On to Menin Road South Military Cemetery to pay our respects to William Mott (we have his VM). Got the train to Poperinge, had lunch at Brasserie Moustache and visited Toc H. Back to Ypres and attended the Last Post. Meal at In 't Klein Stadhuis. Sunday 16th October 2022 Went to the Guynemer Pavilion at Poelkapelle. On to St. Sixtus Abbey for lunch and beer. Back to Ypres via Canada Farm to pay our respects to George Ferry (we have his VM). Attended the Last Post. Meal at In 't Klein Stadhuis. Monday 17th October 2022 Left Ariane and got the 12.50 crossing. Home Fantastic time as usual and great to be back. I will post pictures of the graves visited. Regards. Stephen (Maldon). Buffnut453 Posted 17 October , 2022 Share Posted 17 October , 2022 Great stuff, Stephen. I'm jealous. Still trying to persuade SWMBO that we need to visit the Western Front. Sadly, she has other ideas on places to visit in Europe.

I got round that by agreeing to a day trip to Bruges while we were in Ypres. Probably wouldn't work again though! 1 hour ago, stephen p nunn said: Good for you Stephen. I haven't been since late 2019, and I miss it.
