websites to research a soldier

Hello all,

Many people on this forum, myself included, are looking for information about soldiers. Many modern websites are used for this.
It would be useful for myself and perhaps others if you could post a name and link to websites that serve to find more information about World War I soldiers based on the name and other information about that soldier. It is also good to know whether the website is completely free or whether you can only see all search results with a subscription.

Thanks in advance
Arne
