Hi All,

Just wondered if anyone can confirm the London Gazette date for the above Military Medal and also a possible location for the award.

The date noted is L.G. 23rd August, 1916, which suggests a possible immediate award for the Somme in July, 1916?

Any help would be much appreciated,

Robert  London Gazette not playing ball with me  however

McAvan is recorded as having been awarded the MM on the 31st July 1916 in the war diary

The diary can be downloaded free from the National Archives which will provide the events of July 16

(The diary is easy to read unlike some I have come accross)
