Gladys Corfield HUGHES. Staff Nurse 2nd Res/H1050 QAIMNSR.  
Born 11 June 1889 at Nantmawr to Thomas and Martha Titley Hughes, nee Corfield of Cambria House, Nantmawr, Shropshire. 1891 census with her parents and siblings at Cambria House. 1901 census with her parents and siblings at Nantmawr Shropshire. Welsh 1911 census. Visiting the home of M K Dine Eleby. Occupation aged 22, Boarding house keeper. She contracted the flue whilst nursing in the Royal Herbert Hospital Woolwich and died 6 November 1918 aged 29 at 03.10am of influenza and pneumonia and abscess on her left ear. Her mother was at her bedside when she died. Her body was conveyed from London to Gobowen for burial. She was given full military honours.
Her father was granted a war gratuity 26 June 1919 revised 27 April 1920
At rest in Nantmawr Congregational Chapel Yard, Shropshire
