Meg Posted 25 September , 2022 Share Posted 25 September , 2022 Good afternoon I have a mystery which I am hoping someone can provide the answer. William Brittain Abbott was my great grandfather and he died in 1917. I have come across a William Britton Abbott in an absent voters list 1918 for Wandsworth Garrett Lane. G/29091 – L/sgt -1/23rd London Regiment. I am wondering if he is related somehow to my grandfather. Could anyone tell me anymore about this man and his regiment. Thank you. Dai Bach y Sowldiwr Posted 25 September , 2022 Share Posted 25 September , 2022 You need to pursue your family tree to see if you can link your GGF to the Wandsworth man.
Meg Posted 25 September , 2022 Author Share Posted 25 September , 2022 Thank you, I have already done so on that score.
Meg Posted 25 September , 2022 Author Share Posted 25 September , 2022 I have now solved the memory, it was my Great grandfather's son having decided to use William Britton Abbott instead of his Baptised name of William Robert. This was confirmed by a probate address.
