It is 20 years since BBC2 screened the ground-breaking series, ‘The Trench’.

To mark the occasion all three episodes are being screened in a special one-off event at the Great War Huts museum, near Bury St Edmunds in Suffolk, this coming Saturday, 24th September 2022.

The day starts at 9am and will feature talks by members of the production team who brought the series to our screens, including Associate Producer, Richard van Emden; Art Director, Diarmuid Byron O’Connor and Great War Military Advisor, Taff Gillingham. Many members of the ‘Hull Pals’ and Khaki Chums who took part will be in attendance too.

The ticket price includes teas, coffees and lunch and the event will end at 6pm.

Richard van Emden has kindly donated a copy of his book, which accompanied the series, to be raffled on the day. It is signed by all of the 2001 Hull Pals as well as by veterans Arthur Barraclough and Harry Patch. You don’t have to attend to buy a raffle ticket.

Anyone wanting to attend can buy one of the last few remaining tickets on the Great War Huts Events page:
