Cj556 Posted 14 September , 2022 Share Posted 14 September , 2022 Here’s a very early Kaiserliche Marine issued Gew 98. Made by DWM and mostly matching (Bands are mismatch). Most of the early DWM rifles were navy issue like this one. Rifle was updated for the S round but retains the original barrel and 200 meter sight base. It also retains the early bolt and firing pin. Unit marking on the disc denotes issue to the Danzig dockyard. The crown on the bolt and barrel also denote navy issue. This one was pictured in Robert Ball’s Military Mauser book also. 4thGordons Posted 16 September , 2022 Share Posted 16 September , 2022 Thought this might be appropriate here: gives a suggestion of bayonet type to pair it with too. Chris

trajan Posted 15 October , 2022 Share Posted 15 October , 2022 Yes, great photo 4G! In practice, though, the KM seems to have found these bayonets a tad too long as there are several shortened versions around, some with KM markings, IIRR!
