He looks Canadian rather than British Army to me.  @gordon92or @4thGordonsmight be able to advise.

I would agree that he is Canadian. The badges on the bonnet and collars are quite indistinct. Nonetheless, I think he is likely a piper of the 16th Battalion CEF(Canadian Scottish).  This is based upon the smallish silhouette of the cap badge and the visibility of white lines on what seems to be the MacKenzie tartan kilt that was worn by the 16th Battalion.

This 16th Regiment piper has a similar looking kilt, but the lighter coloured lines do not match, and there’s a more regimental looking sporran.  The other soldier gives a clear view of cap and collar insignia.

Looking carefully at the pattern of the plaid in his kilt I think it looks more like the 236th New Brunswick Kilties, also called MacLean Highlanders.  The match is much better.
