seaJane Posted 10 September , 2022 Share Posted 10 September , 2022 In 2019 Himself and I holidayed in Gatehouse of Fleet, passing briefly through Dumfries. We're stopping near Dumfries for longer this year, setting off on Sunday 11th September (our 23rd wedding anniversary) and moving on to Edinburgh on the 17th. We didn't have time for The Devil's Porridge Museum so will be catching up with it this year. We're in Edinburgh from the 17-26 September. What should we see? Any information about accessibility is always welcome. And if anyone is near enough to join us for dinner, do send a message. sJ

The Old town is at a higher elevation than near the station/"new" town. I suspect you will need transport/taxi as i don't think you will fancy the assorted "steps" I have done them a couple of times and as a larger bloke was gasping! A Fun Guide To Edinburgh Old Town (everythingedinburgh.com) I would recommend The Kitchin (Michelin 1*) for a very nice lunch (£50/head plus drinks) out at Leith. Or the nearby Martin Wishart, also 1* Michelin similar price. Restaurant Martin Wishart Michelin-starred dining in Leith, Edinburgh The Kitchin - our Michelin-starred restaurant in Leith, Edinburgh but there are plenty of other nice restaurants. jonbem Posted 11 September , 2022 Share Posted 11 September , 2022 There will probably be some respectful tribute to Hm QE2 at St GILES' CATHEDRAL (stgilescathedral.org.uk) on the same theme, in Leith Visitor Accessibility | The Official Royal Yacht Britannia

jlang Posted 11 September , 2022 Share Posted 11 September , 2022 Apart from the Castle (military museums), this might be of interest The Collection (napier.ac.uk)
