Admin RussT Posted 9 September , 2022 Admin Share Posted 9 September , 2022 You can see the middle letter is a "C" as it matches the "C" in CRS (Corps Rest Station) Can you show more of the page (or provide a link) to see if the other two letters can be matched to other known words on the page. Whilst you will be able to find a WD for the 2/1 EL FA, I don't think you will (as such) find similar for the XI CRS. CRSs were set up and run by an established medical unit, like a FA. So you need to look at the appropriate Divisional or Corps War Diary for the time period of concern and those WDs should tell you which unit was running the CRS at the time. Admin RussT Posted 9 September , 2022 Admin Share Posted 9 September , 2022 Just had a quick look at the WD for the Deputy Director Medical Service XI Corps and the entry for 24/05/1917 tells us that the 1/3rd (West Riding) Field Ambulance (49th Division) will be taking over the Corps Rest Station from the 2/1st East Lancashire Field Ambulance (66th Division). So it is the WD of 3/1 WR FA you need as well as the WD 2/1 EL FA for the period of interest. These WDs don't normally mention individuals but they do give a reasonable idea of the activities and the comings & goings. Regards Russ
