David_Blanchard Posted 31 August , 2022 Share Posted 31 August , 2022 Looking for information with regard to when Walking Wounded Collection Posts were first used on the Western Front. As far as I am aware there were no WWCP used in the first battles on the WF in early 1915- certainly not at Neuve Chapelle or 2nd Ypres. Any help appreciated. Admin kenf48 Posted 31 August , 2022 Admin Share Posted 31 August , 2022 The OH does not give a date but describes the WWCP as a function of Field Ambulances Medical Services Vol 2 pp 30 -32 https://archive.org/details/medicalservicesg02macp/page/30/mode/2up "Walking wounded" appears to have been something of a misnomer as it included those conveyed by lorry etc., i.e.not carried in to a facility by bearers. Not sure if this WWCP was part of the plan or was more of an ad hoc arrangement. This may have subsequently led to more official WWCP being designated as collecting stations in other battles. Will have to investigate further. Thanks, David
