Wallace William 201924

Hello , please can i ask for some help /advice on the above Soldier , I came across his id tag in a local flea market and wanted to find out more about him , I have the usual documents etc , as he was entitled to the SWB  (see attached ) I had hoped some one can explain the comments in the very last column on the right Yes aos b(1)d/10 8/17

Yes is answer to did he serve overseas. Then follows an army order under which he was discharged. I suspect it is AO392. LongLongTrail will explain this to you.

He was discharged for wounds. He appeared in the Daily Casualty List of 5/11/17 as Wounded, home town /place of enlistment as East Woodburn.

These lists came out typically a month after the actual wounding so you should be searching for something in the war diary about 5th Oct 1917.

His pension card, available via WesternFrontAssociation and Fold3 tells us it was GsW left shoulder. 

Born 1897. Living Fencehouses Co Durham.

Hi Charlie , thank you for this , can i ask about the Daily Casualty Lists , can these be accessed if so where, a massive resource indeed ? Thanks

Through subscription sites eg Findmypast newspapers ( or Brit newspaper archive), The Genealogist, Forces War Records etc. No extra info.
