Then follows an army order under which he was discharged. I suspect it is AO392. LongLongTrail will explain this to you. He was discharged for wounds. He appeared in the Daily Casualty List of 5/11/17 as Wounded, home town /place of enlistment as East Woodburn. These lists came out typically a month after the actual wounding so you should be searching for something in the war diary about 5th Oct 1917. Charlie

Phill Jones Posted 27 August , 2022 Author Posted 27 August , 2022 Hi Charlie , thank you for this , can i ask about the Daily Casualty Lists , can these be accessed if so where, a massive resource indeed ? Thanks
Mark1959 Posted 27 August , 2022 Posted 27 August , 2022 https://digital.nls.uk/british-military-lists/archive/144481815 These are the weekly list but individual daily lists are within them. These run from Aug 1917. Some earlier ones were in The Times but I can tell you they are almost impossible to search.
charlie962 Posted 27 August , 2022 Posted 27 August , 2022 Through subscription sites eg Findmypast newspapers ( or Brit newspaper archive), The Genealogist, Forces War Records etc. No extra info.
Phill Jones Posted 27 August , 2022 Author Posted 27 August , 2022 Thank you very much all for this most helpful
