Hello all,

I was wondering if anyone could help me locate a trench map showing 'Maison Rouge Alley' near the village/town of Beuvry?

I am currently researching a soldier of the KRRC who was killed there in the March, so would be grateful for any help finding the location.

Thanks in advance.

Best wishes,

Chris

Hi Chris, for regular researchers like yourself it might even be worth you joining The Western Front Association if you are not already a member.

A Search on maison rouge in the WFA's TrenchMapper retrieved 3 results.  The one 5.5 km east of Beuvry has 136 georeferenced maps.  You can tag the location, then look at different dates.    This one is a 1916 map but I'm not sure of the exact month.  You can then download 2 maps free each month.

The aerial distinctly shows the alley running above a later and very well defined trench system.  Overlays of the Haig Collection of 1916 is now included and the 1916 Official History is being uploaded as the 1914 and 1915 have already been done.
