Remembered Today:

Rifle Distribution in Artillery Units

How many Rifles were actually allocated to an Artillery Battery. I know that AIF Artillerymen were not issued a personal weapon in Australia, as the Artillery Battery was to be equipped the same as the British Units. As there are very few photographs that show Gunners with Rifles, I would like to know who were issued rifles in a Battery.  I believe that in 1909 Army Order 304 gave the 'distribution of rifles within a Battery' - but I have been unable to locate a copy to research.

Nice pic. Interesting to see that the working parts are covered which would seem to makes sense as I would think there will be a lot of dirt flying around from the horses.
