Blue Dragoon Posted 2 July , 2022 Share Posted 2 July , 2022 (edited) Hello researching Harry Albert Wright. Seen here on left of trio as we look. Have all his domestic detail but service detail a little hard to confirm. B. 1 Jun 1899 Camden Town. D. 14 Oct 1970 Staffordshire where he spent the majority of his life. Family believe Hampshire Regiment Service number 43355. May have spent some time with the Royal Fusiliers and the London Regiment Any clarifications on possible photo date, potential service dates and sequence of service greatly appreciated George Edited 2 July , 2022 by Blue Dragoon
mancpal Posted 2 July , 2022 Share Posted 2 July , 2022 As they all have wound stripes the earliest date would be about August 16. Given that they all have ribbons for the BWM and VM would indicate post war. Simon
Matlock1418 Posted 2 July , 2022 Share Posted 2 July , 2022 (edited) How about this chap who had a Deflection of nose, attrib [see photo ??] and a GSW chest, attrib And an address at 67 Farnham Rd, Handsworth, Birmingham Harry Albert WRIGHT, 85084 [also it seems the Hampshire Regt, unfortunately no number] - Born: 1899 https://www.fold3.com/image/704763808?terms=albert,wright,harry https://www.fold3.com/image/644524434 Images courtesy of WFA/Fold3 Pension cards for disability claim - likely made on transfer to the Army Z Reserve - so he survived the war with a wound. Handsworth was formerly a part of Birmingham that was in Staffordshire. ??? [Got to say at the moment he looks quite promising to me] M Edited 2 July , 2022 by Matlock1418 tweak

charlie962 Posted 2 July , 2022 Share Posted 2 July , 2022 Wright 85084 appears as wounded in the daily casualty list of 7/10/18 which would fit well with his end date of overseas service with 4RF of 3/9/18.

AndrewSid Posted 2 July , 2022 Share Posted 2 July , 2022 I’d suggest his time with the Hampshire regiment in France was short as he was transferred at the depot and didn’t make it to actually serve with the 2nd Hampshires. There are a number of men who moved to the 2/4 London after 12 days in France. They simply needed the men more.
Blue Dragoon Posted 2 July , 2022 Author Share Posted 2 July , 2022 Thanks for all the pointers. Surprised I can't find him on the Silver War Badge roll

He was not discharged on medical grounds. Although he may have been able to apply perhaps, him not having a silver war badge is appropriate.
