Skipman Posted 16 May , 2022 Share Posted 16 May , 2022 Does anyone have the battalion diary of the 2nd Battalion QOCH for November 1916. I'm looking for more information on the action for which CSM William Templeton was awarded the DCM Citation London Gazette 26/1/1917 "For conspicuous gallantry in action. He collected a party of men, and by his initiative was able to hold up the enemy's advance, rendering most valuable service at a critical period." He received 5 bullet wounds in this action, fortunately, none life threatening. Mike
Gardenerbill Posted 22 May , 2022 Share Posted 22 May , 2022 Sorry can't help with war diary, but I thought I'd give this post a nudge. There's nothing for November 1916 in the OH, but they were involved in the actions at karajakoi and Yenikoi September and October (OH p179) and 6th December 1916 in a demonstration towards the railway line in the Struma valley where they rushed an enemy post (OH p249). Not digitised so needs a visit to Kew 81 Infantry Brigade: 2 Battalion Cameron Highlanders (1915 Nov - 1919 May). 1/2... | The National Archives
Skipman Posted 22 May , 2022 Author Share Posted 22 May , 2022 Thanks Gardenerbill, interesting. Thanks too jonbem. Yes I know they haven't done any Salonika diaries yet. Thought there might be chance someone had it. Mike
