Cheshire East Council has given full permission for demolition. Sec of State refused help. British Red Cross is selling for demolition, a War Memorial. It had been taken 'as a Cottage Hospital' by Secretary of State for Health in 1948, when the NHS was first set up. Sec. of State for Health has NO REMIT for War Memorials, but only to take 'Health' buildings. Therefore, when it was passed over to British Red Cross, they also had no claim on the War Memorial, but only on the 'health' building. Since it first opened 02 August 1922, this War Memorial has always been used by the local community for their Annual and other Remembrance, through every incarnation of its life; when it was run buy its initial local Trust, When it was run by the NHS, when it was run by British Red Cross. Charity Commission, War Memorials Trust, Imperial War Museum, Land Registry, Govt. Ministers, have refused to help us to keep our War Memorial. Help!
