Culverhouse01 Posted 1 May , 2022 Share Posted 1 May , 2022 (edited) I was wondering if anyone could help me decipher the record as to why my great grandfather was discharged with this medal. Harry George Culverhouse has Reasons for discharge - Para 2 (B) (i) G.S.W. It is the G.S.W that I am unclear about Any help would be greatly appreciated. Acknown Posted 4 May , 2022 Share Posted 4 May , 2022 (edited) TC Newark is the Royal Engineers Training Centre at Newark. The above thread changes from 'Technical' to 'Training' if you scroll down. Acknown Edited 4 May , 2022 by Acknown

Acknown Posted 4 May , 2022 Share Posted 4 May , 2022 (edited) I think that 'Bedford 'A' SD' is 'A' Signal Depot, Royal Engineers, Bedford. Bedford 'A' was the Recruits Depot. Presumably the men were on the held strength of the Depot pending discharge. Acknown Edited 4 May , 2022 by Acknown

To be pedantic, or accurate depending on your point of view, the Silver War Badge was not a medal, it was simply recognition of service. https://www.longlongtrail.co.uk/soldiers/how-to-research-a-soldier/campaign-medal-records/records-of-the-silver-war-badge/
