Please ... What does RCOS stand for?

Christopher DEMPSEY, 2310042

I'm thinking potentially/surely: Royal Corps of Signals ??

[Dempsey's other/earlier unit was the Royal Munster Fusiliers - 6671, 4430, 9999]

TIA

Just found a MIC for Christopher DEMPSEY, Royal Munster Fusiliers, 9999 and Royal Engineers 624428

Given the latter I am now convinced RCOS must be Royal Corps of Signals.

Is that a post-1921 seven digit number?

Yes, I reckon so and so think I have now clarified - must be Royal Corps of Signals

Thanks for looking so quickly.

Thanks for confirming and for bringing the LLT coverage to my attention  - I must try and mentally retain that LLT link as a go to.

No surprise perhaps, but he doesn't appear in the MOD spreadsheets of retained records.

I wonder if he will turn up when the MoD records, apparently currently in transit, end up at TNA and are eventually released by them ??

I assume what with several service numbers he must have been born 1900 or earlier , but that for some reason he isn't listed.

The current MOD database doesn't list post 1900 men.

The files being released to the NA include the 1901-1907 cohort, and will presumably be re-indexed, so maybe his file and others like him, might turn up.
