Caroline Booth Posted 20 January , 2018 Share Posted 20 January , 2018 Old posts never die! I am researching the 13th Battalion of the Manchesters (my Grandfather served with them in Salonika and France in 1917/18). Lt Col AFC Maclachlan was their commanding officer from November 1916 to November 1917. He was clearly well respected (as earlier posts have said of his brother RC). The Battalion Diary in January 1918 noted, with pride, the award of a bar to go with his DSO. After the war the Officers of the 13th dedicated a plaque to him in St Mary's Church in Newton Valence (same location as previous post). It is now slightly obscured by the organ - so the photo isn't great but here it is. Caroline http://ayearofwar.com
