Guest Ian Bowbrick Posted 16 June , 2003 Share Posted 16 June , 2003 Terry, Interesting - the plot thickens!! I have his MIC, definitely Lanc Fus. Thanks anyway. Andrew Hesketh Posted 16 June , 2003 Share Posted 16 June , 2003 Ian, I had a quick peek as well. The only Ludlam for the Lancashire Fusiliers is John, 10th Bn., d.o.w. 27/8/18 (born & enlisted Leicester). I even had a scroll through all the Freds in case there was a spelling error. Couldn't find him that way either (480 Freds serving with the Lanc's Fusiliers died in the war - fascinating fact!). The only other Fred Ludlam on the whole database, other than that mentioned by Terry, is Private 28449, 22nd Manchester, kia 1/7/16 France & Flanders, born and enlisted Royton, Lancs. The number 41784 conjured up 5 names, but none were remotely similar to the one you are looking for. As you say, the plot thickens! All the best, Andrew
Guest Ian Bowbrick Posted 17 June , 2003 Share Posted 17 June , 2003 Andrew, Many thanks! CWGC definitely has an entry for him - must be one of those instances where SDGW has a missing entry. Ian
