Skipman Posted 19 February , 2022 Share Posted 19 February , 2022 The 1st Battalion The Black Watch were part of the 1st Guards Brigade, 1st Division from August 1914 to August 1915 when the (brigade lost its two Guards battalions and was retitled as the 1st Brigade.) Attached is the cover of the 1st Brigade diary that covers Aug 1914 -Dec 1914. The "Guards" part has been scrubbed out. As regards the 1st Black Watch, the correct way to describe them from Aug 1914 to Aug 1915 is as being part of the "1st Guards Brigade" and from after Aug 1915 as part of the "1st Infantry Brigade" Is that correct? Mike Yes I believe so, except that the infantry aspect would usually be included when written formally, i.e. 1st Infantry Brigade.
