GHQ BEF staff officer 1916 - "General Haslam"

Grateful for help in tracking down a general officer (probably a Brig Gen) named Haslam.

He accompanied Maj Gen Richard Butler (Deputy COS GHQ BEF) to a tank demonstration at Elveden on 21 July 1916; sadly they missed the start of the display as their car broke down on route from London . His name is recorded in Solomon J Solomon diary

Have trawled the LG and TNA discovery but no success

Now that is remarkable - he was awarded the DSO with C Battalion in 1917 although he does not appear in the War Diary other than when he departed to 9th Bn.

Shown on docs on family trees on ancestry as: 

Percy Lovell Clare Haslam

born 25.11.1885

married Estella Maude Gordon 8.1.14 St Georges Hanover Square - gives occupation as officer 18th Hussars

died 2.3.70

of Rystead House, Chiddingfold, Surrey

 

and to put a face to the name (courtesy of ancestry.co.uk)
