Nelly Lane/Tunnel Trench maps.

Does anyone have detailed trench map/maps of this area relating to the attack of 1/9th Glasgow Highlanders on 20th May,1917.

Chasseaud's 'Rats Alley' gives Nelly Lane as 51bSW4.U.13.a - this trench runs from Nelly Avenue to Janet Avenue on the attached link and Tunnel Trench as 51bSW4.U.7.14.20 - I suspect this is the trench which runs in front of Tunnel Support on the attached link.

This map is from the WD of 100 Infantry Brigade 33 Div. Courtesy TNA WO 95 2428 and Ancestry p 617/795. There are detailed reports of the Op on 20/05/1917 and what appear to be some aerial photographs.

@vinniemac, here is Nelly Avenue running towards Tunnel Trench, from an August 1917 photo, courtesy IWM / WFA.  In the extract below this one, note that the scarring from Tunnel Trench is still clearly visible in the farmland today.  Image courtesy Google Maps.

Thanks for this,I will print them out and put it in my “must visit this year “ folder.
