jay dubaya Posted 13 February , 2022 Share Posted 13 February , 2022 Chasseaud's 'Rats Alley' gives Nelly Lane as 51bSW4.U.13.a - this trench runs from Nelly Avenue to Janet Avenue on the attached link and Tunnel Trench as 51bSW4.U.7.14.20 - I suspect this is the trench which runs in front of Tunnel Support on the attached link. brianmorris547 Posted 13 February , 2022 Share Posted 13 February , 2022 This map is from the WD of 100 Infantry Brigade 33 Div. Courtesy TNA WO 95 2428 and Ancestry p 617/795. There are detailed reports of the Op on 20/05/1917 and what appear to be some aerial photographs. Brian

WhiteStarLine Posted 14 February , 2022 Share Posted 14 February , 2022 @vinniemac, here is Nelly Avenue running towards Tunnel Trench, from an August 1917 photo, courtesy IWM / WFA. In the extract below this one, note that the scarring from Tunnel Trench is still clearly visible in the farmland today. Image courtesy Google Maps.
