Tom Oliviers Posted 8 February , 2022 Share Posted 8 February , 2022 Here some pictures from a very nice double MG-bunker we found on the former Esenstellung near the hamlet called Esen near Diksmuide. Notice the armoured plate is still present, also notice the two observation slits in the concrete next to the MG-scharte, both left and right of the armoured plate. detail of the observation slits (its not clearly visible on prev photo)

mebu Posted 8 February , 2022 Share Posted 8 February , 2022 Nice pics of a good condition relic Tom. You are probably aware there is another bunker of the Esen line about 200 metres to the south, and the concrete pit of a large gun, believed to be the forerunner of Leugenboom, a few hundred metres south of that. All interesting. Peter
Pompey Posted 9 February , 2022 Share Posted 9 February , 2022 Nice pictures Tom, was this bunker ever blended / camouflaged into the landscape as it stands out like a sore thumb today and easily identified ?
