Taking a  visitor to the Somme but only there for 2 1/2  days.

Took him a couple of years ago to : Albert Museum, Delville Wood, Thiepval, Bouzencourt tunnels, Ulster Tower. Tommies Bar.

Anywhere else special of interest close to the Somme I have forgotten?

Newfoundland park at Beaumont Hamel, Hawthorn Crater, Lochnagar Crater.

walking around the area of Beaumont, Mailley, Redan, Munich across to Ancre and the other cemeteries gives a good idea. a good walk around could tie up a couple of hours and get a good idea that your couple of hours and a few square miles took months to conquer

within the GW remit, but not far from the Somme , over to the West, Doullens has the Citadel and the town hall is where General Foch took control of all allied forces, on the way back home call in to Etaples.

outside of the GW there is Crecy and  Agincourt from medieval times and WW2 has many sites such as V1 rocket sites, the long ski slope take off ramps and up  in St Omer La Coupole bunker and museum

Hello Don, was at Minden post last September 2021, all overgrown and new fence erected. As they say "nothing to see here". Ian.

OK.  Often wondered what access was like from the other side of the Albert-Péronne road but never managed to find out ... yet.
