A B Sangster Posted 15 January , 2022 Posted 15 January , 2022 Any ideas what this badge is? FFA? Appears to have a prop on the front but I cannot find any images on google etc, only agricultural related items, any information would be very much appreciated.
Allan1892 Posted 16 January , 2022 Posted 16 January , 2022 Irish connection perhaps? --- harp depicted is an Irish harp
FROGSMILE Posted 16 January , 2022 Posted 16 January , 2022 (edited) 21 minutes ago, Allan1892 said: Irish connection perhaps? --- harp depicted is an Irish harp A bishops mitre at top centre, which seems significant, and an ancient, perhaps Saxon crown lower down. The lion is couchant and in such a pose was associated with the Dukes of Marlborough’s armorial bearings, among others. I wonder if it was connected with Football. Something along the lines of the Fermanagh Football Association. Edited 16 January , 2022 by FROGSMILE
Ron Clifton Posted 16 January , 2022 Posted 16 January , 2022 I agree that it is the badge of an Irish organisation. The combination of a mitre and the pallium (the white Y-shaped charge bearing crosses) suggests that it is connected with the Roman Catholic Church. Ron
A B Sangster Posted 16 January , 2022 Author Posted 16 January , 2022 Thank You all so much, Allan1892, FROGSMILE and Ron Clifton, I’ve looked in multiple places and had no luck, at least i have a few leads to go on now, really appreciated cheers, this was in a coin box of multiple foreign coins and an RAF badge from my Late Nan’s flat, none of which we have any idea where they came from, my Grandad was in WW2 and Great Grandad in WW1, so she’d accumulated bits and bobs from all over the place, thanks for all your help.
