From the St Louis Daily Globe-Democrat, one Monday morning in April 1918, discussing the formal training of guide dogs for blinded German veterans of the First World War.

Thanks seaJane,

I didn't know this.

Apparently guide dogs for the blind were "invented" (I don't know how I should say it correctly) in Germany in 1916, see https://www.spiegel.de/geschichte/blindenhunde-gepeitscht-geliebt-verordnet-a-1108289.html

There was even a memorial for the dogs in Berlin: https://bildhauerei-in-berlin.de/bildwerk/blindenhund/
