BillyH Posted 6 January , 2022 Posted 6 January , 2022 I have found a photo on Ancestry purporting to be a soldier I am researching. I am not entirely convinced that it is him. Can any uniform experts glean anything from the clip shown below - I don't want to post the whole image because it is not mine, but there is nothing significant missing. No cap badge, sleeve markings etc. Can anyone positively id the shoulder title (I can't), and is it Territorial? And what is the mysterious mark above the second button, it surely cannot be a medal ribbon? just a blemish on the image perhaps? BillyH.
ss002d6252 Posted 6 January , 2022 Posted 6 January , 2022 I'd say a blemish on the front. Cheshire regiment shoulder title ? Craig
BillyH Posted 6 January , 2022 Author Posted 6 January , 2022 (edited) Thanks for that Craig, he is supposed to be Cheshire Reg't so that helps. I thought that I could read the first and last letters but there looked to be a gap in the middle. BillyH. Edited 6 January , 2022 by BillyH
FROGSMILE Posted 6 January , 2022 Posted 6 January , 2022 (edited) It does look like Cheshire to me too. Edited 6 January , 2022 by FROGSMILE

I think it's the angle with the E and the S coupled with image quality (and possible damage to the picture). Craig
BillyH Posted 6 January , 2022 Author Posted 6 January , 2022 Thanks for the advice, I am happier with him now BillyH.
