3rd Depot Battalion Seaforth Highlanders

Haven’t posted for a very long time but a post about the Iolaire got me going this morning.

I wonder if there are any war diaries available for the Depot in Cromarty of the 8th Seaforth?  My grandfather seems to have been there for some time.  I am unable to trace anything official relating to him between his arrival in France from India with the 1st  in October 1914 and his receiving the MM in 1917 and subsequent wounding at 3rd Ypres while with the 8th Battalion.

I can’t think why I wouldn’t have tried this route before if something is available!!

Units on home service weren't required to keep war diaries and most didn't.
