Has anybody looked into 642 Field Company RE?

I'm interested in this units activities from 1st Feb 1916 until the end of the war.

I can't find anything at Kew and I'm still waiting to hear back from the RE Museum.

Any help greatly appreciated

Formerly 3 Provisional Field Company. Redesignated 642 (London) Field Company March  1917. It was part of 3 Provisional Brigade and never served overseas. The RE Museum  and Library have a summary sheet for them.  They have not been digitised.

Hi Terry

Just this minute got a reply back from the RE museum...

Thank you for your email.

I have searched the catalogue and we hold a war diary for 642 London Field Company ( 3 Provisional Brigade ) for the dates 28 Nov 1915 to 03 Dec 1917, it is a single typed summary history sheet, contains few details, raised at Cromer in Norfolk in 1915, no report of activity with BEF.

Unfortunately it appears that is the only information we have on the unit. I am currently working from home, I can check the Corps Histories when I am back in the office in the New Year to see if there are any details recorded there
