Remembered Today:

"Observatory Redoubt"?

Please can anyone tell me what this was?  It is mentioned in the War Diary of the 15th Battalion Royal Warwicks for 9/5/16 when they were in Arras.

The diary says "enemy persistently shelled OBSERVATORY REDOUBT preventing working party from repairing damages" (the words are written in capitals in the Diary).

I am particularly interested in this entry as it was the day my grandfather was injured

Redoubt - Wikipedia

redoubt (historically redout)[1][2] is a fort or fort system usually consisting of an enclosed defensive emplacement outside a larger fort, usually relying on earthworks, although some are constructed of stone or brick
