Newly found photographs need some help identifying the cap badges and units.

Just been sent these by a gent and I am struggling to see what cap badges they are wearing.
Would the seated officers photo be a gunnery course for RFC?
Any help would be very much appreciated.

Standing 2nd right in 1st photo may be Royal West Kents, the others could have the same badge as each other, just the light making a difference.

Simon

ASC for the others?

Photo 1.  ASC group plus one man from either RWK or 20th London’s.

Photo 2.  A Training Reserve (TR) group from 1916-1917 when buttons were worn as cap badges.  Central fellow has a cap badge but I can’t make it out on phone screen [possibly ASC?].

Photo 3.  Is I think probably an early RFC machine gun course comprising a mix of officers in RFC uniform, Naval uniform and regimental uniform.  In the early days the RFC comprised a Military Wing and a Naval Wing and efforts were made to run some combined courses.

Photo 1. ASC group but perhaps a Royal West Kent man thrown in for good measure. See above.

The final picture looks like RFC and RNAS, perhaps a machine gun course prior to April'18 ?

Sorry Simon I was still editing.  I tried to post three times but it kept processing as “Hidden”, a constant finger trouble problem that I have.

Yes looking again your 1918 date is correct and changes things, the officer seated centrally is wearing the new RAF uniform, including the cap badge with vertical bars for junior officers.

What about my flying guess about airmen? Maternity jackets, wings visible and a Matelot on the left.

We seem to be at cross purposes?  I’ve mentioned the aviation theme twice now.

The men in the first photo are all ASC except the man standing second from right who is Queen's Own Royal West Kent Regiment. Pete.

Spot on Pete (or 20th London’s as a longer shot).  Like you I think RWK the more likely though.

I did think you could probably see better than on my phone screen.  The rough outline including scrolls was why I came to same conclusion as you, I just wasn’t so positive.
