AndrewSid Posted 5 October , 2021 Share Posted 5 October , 2021 Planning a visit to Kew in a few weeks to look through a Great Uncles unit war diaries. I’m really struggling to find the relevant war diaries and was hoping for some help. His unit was A Sqn of the Duke of Lancasters own Yeomanry. They deployed as a Div asset within the 42nd East Lancashire Division, arriving Egypt 26 Sept 1914. They remained with the Div until 29 Jan 17 but did not go to Gallipoli unlike the infantry. I can only locate the war diary from Aug 16 to Jan 17. Where is the diary from Sept 14 to Aug 16? They then moved to the 53rd Welsh Div until Aug 17 and the war diary for that period is available for viewing at Kew like the above. They were moved a third and final time to form an element of the XXV Corps Cavalry Regiment. I cant find any diary on their activity noting they were numerous actions. My great uncle died in Sept 18 and is buried in what is now Israel. This may be NA searching “user error” but would appreciate any steers before I reach Kew. thanks
