Hello all,

I have recently bought this item which was listed as a ww1 runners carrying case but I'm unsure of its legitimacy, any help appreciated.

I'd say its far to big for a runner to use. Looks to me like map case as would be used at a regimental HQ or similar.

Agreed.  We had almost identical in my Battalion's Int Section armoured vehicle in the 1970's.  It was used to store spare maps safely for those massive Cold War standbys and movement exercises in Germany (Active Edge, Iron this and that, etc.)
