yperman Posted 19 September , 2021 Share Posted 19 September , 2021 Could a member kindly help me with the Great War service of Donald Burlingham? Prior to joining up he achieved local fame in Hong Kong by killing the Sheung Shui Tiger which had killed one Hongkong Police Officer and injured another. His active service would have started mid 1915 on. Many thanks Yperman

jonbem Posted 19 September , 2021 Share Posted 19 September , 2021 from 55th Coke's Rifles (Frontier Force) - Wikipedia The 55th did not serve abroad during the First World War but the regiment—which comprised companies of Afridis, Punjabi Musulmans, Sikhs and Yusufzais—saw active service on the North-West Frontier for the duration of the war, fighting many of the numerous marauding tribes that populated the area. Many men of the regiment did, however, see service abroad during the war while attached to other units.

There is a photo of him in 1919 after returning to the Hongkong Police and he looks a shadow of the man in the tiger photo. Yperman

The links are really helpful. Yperman
