ss002d6252 Posted 1 September , 2021 Share Posted 1 September , 2021 His service earlier number is given as 20955. #20958 was issued 25 Feb 1915 - which raises an issue bases on the war gratuity. The only way that this can be tied in is if his war gratuity was paid only as a substantive Sgt, rather than correctly under the acting rank. RaySearching Posted 1 September , 2021 Author Share Posted 1 September , 2021 Many thanks for your time and expertise Craig I think the date 25th Feb 1915 based on the date that the service number was issued is most likely to be correct regarding the 4th June 1915 date calculated It would seem a bit harsh if his widow was refused a pension if the couple married within just 4 weeks after he enlisted I will try and obtain the exact date he married now why did I now look up his earlier service number to see when it was issued Charlie Thanks for the snippet it corresponds with the CWGC entry every little bit of info helps Regards Ray Many thanks for your time and expertise Craig I think the date 25th Feb 1915 based on the date that the service number was issued is most likely to be correct regarding the 4th June 1915 date calculated It would seem a bit harsh if his widow was refused a pension if the couple married within just 4 weeks after he enlisted I will try and obtain the exact date he married now why did I now look up his earlier service number to see when it was issued Charlie Thanks for the snippet it corresponds with the CWGC entry every little bit of info helps Regards Ray
RaySearching Posted 2 September , 2021 Author Share Posted 2 September , 2021 Craig Having interrogated the silver war badge rolls Roxby 20905 enlisted 23/2/15 Adie 20968 enlisted 3/3/15 Hold 20996 enlisted 4/3/15 which more or less confirms the enlistment date for Wynn as the 25/2/15 as previous given by your goodself Thanks again Ray
