I am looking for information with regard as to where the German artillery associated with the German IR 99 had their batteries positioned in February/ March 1915, overlooking British Infantry and artillery to the west of Zwarteleen and Hill 60.

  • David_Blanchard changed the title to German artillery positions near Zwarteleen/ Hill 60 1915

As you may know the divisional field artillery consisted of FAR 51 & 84, unfortunately neither of the regimental histories are available on-line, maybe @AOK4 would be able to help.

 Charlie,

Thanks, I didn’t know that. Gives me something to follow up.

From the war diary of V Corps- February 1915. As far as I can see the artillery batteries of 28 Division were in concealed positions just north of the Menin Road, and it looks as though their counter-battery fire was concentrated on German batteries just north east of the Ypres-Comines canal, possibly Hollebeke?

Neither FAR 51 nor FAR 84 give nice maps with their exact positions, unfortunately. I have attached the page from the regimental history of FAR 84 which describes its battery positions.
